Sigatoka Town has been commended for being a town where its rate collection is high.

Officiating during their Fiji Day celebrations on Saturday, Minister for Local Government, Housing and Community Development Premila Kumar commended ratepayers for ensuring that their rates are always paid on time.

“There are 293 businesses operating in town and I salute those who have been in business for over 50 years.

“You are a small town that is known to have a Big Heart. You are known as the salad bowl of our country and all those who travel through Sigatoka know where to stop and buy their fresh produce.

“ Your Special Administrators, led by Adish Naidu, are revitalising the town in collaboration with you and I look forward to visiting regularly to see the ongoing changes on the riverbank and beyond.

“I am grateful for the consistent commitment by the Special Administrators in ensuring a better and modern Sigatoka for all.”

Minister Kumar also called on every Fijian to work together during this pandemic to move the country forward.

“It is labour that is worth the sweat and tears and joy of every Fijian. So on this FIJI50 Day, I urge you to look back and reflect. But look more into the future. Because, together, our best days are yet to come.”.
