A  family in Labasa is thanking all those who responded with love and support to improve their living conditions.

Kamla Wati, 60 of Nagata said since last Friday people from various places and organisations visited her house and gave donations.

“My mother, Sursati, 86, recently suffered from stroke and doctors at Labasa Hospital told us they can’t do much,” Ms Wati said with tears in her eyes.

“They advised me to look after her well at home.”

The second youngest of seven siblings said she didn’t have enough food at home and didn’t know whom to ask.

“Living with no money, less food and poor health conditions dampened our spirit to continue living in this world,” she said.

“I can’t leave my mother alone in the house to go out and work to earn few dollars.

“I would like to really thank Fiji Sun for capturing our plight and thank everyone for giving us new ray of hope.”

She said her mother cannot talk but still expressed her gratitude to all those who helped out as she cried tears of relief while sitting on an old sofa.

Nagata advisory councillor Avitesh Deo said he had received many calls from overseas donors and now he was collecting funds to renovate Ms Wati’s house.
