Minister Akbar Gives LaptopsT Fiji50-Seconds Video Winners

Kavish Chandra and Bea Ecube of Labasa College were surprised to receive gifts from the Minister for Education Rosy Akbar on Monday.
The two were winners of the Fiji50-seconds video competition.
The Year 11 students said they were proud to have their school’s name written down in history.
“We would like to thank our teacher, Jyotika Reddy, for coming up with the idea and giving us the opportunity to participate,” Kavish of Tuatua, Labasa said.
“We spent only a day putting up the lyrics and making the video.”
Bea, originally from the Philippines said she was proud and happy to meet with the Minister for the first time.
“I want to thank my parents for their support and encouragement,” Bea said.
Her mother, Dr Florecilla Ecube, a doctor at the Labasa Hospital said she was proud of her daughter’s achievement.
They were given a laptop each.
“I am very happy to see parents supporting their children in every way,” Ms Akbar said.
“You being part of Fiji’s 50 years of independence is a wonderful experience.”
She encouraged them to do well in school and make the nation proud.
Students were also given a new 50 cents souvenir by Ms Akbar.
