Naitasiri lock forward Christopher Minimbi is ready to do his country proud at next month’s Autumn Nations Cup in Europe.

The 20 year-old told SUNsports yesterday that getting selected is being great but donning the white jumper is a responsibility that he is committed to carry out.

“To be a Flying Fijian, is a dream come true and to be given the opportunity is a blessing for me,” he said.

“Looking back from when I started, its unreal, but it took hardwork and patience to finally make it.

“I started on and off back in Papua New Guinea but I really got into it when I came over to Marist in 2015.”

The former Marist Brothers High School student thanked his Naitasiri team-mates for the opportunity and their guidance leading him into the Flying Fijians squad.

“Playing for Naitasiri has been a blast. It’s been such a learning curve for me. To learn from the experienced forwards like Sireli Kaloucava, Joeli Veitayaki, and Jerry Naureure. That has really allowed me to grow my game.

“A great team with a great culture with such a strong support base. A real family on and off the pitch,” he said.

‘My grandfather’s mother is from Lutu in Naitasiri.

For the tour, he is being groomed to understudy Glasgow Warriors Leone Nakarawa.

For Naitasiri, apart from Minimbi, they also have Samuela Tawake and Tuidraki Samusamuvodre in the Flying Fijians squad.
