Feakes Commends Govt On Dealing With Covid-19

The Fijian Government is an exemplar to the rest of the world for the speed and decisiveness in which it acted to contain the COVID-19 disease
This is what the Australian High Commissioner John Feakes said during the Tourism Stakeholders Workshop Programme by Child Safe Volunteering (CSV) Hub at the Westin Denarau Island Resort and Spa in Nadi yesterday.
In his speech, Mr Feakes commended the chief guest of the workshop, the Minister for Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport Faiyaz Koya, and the Government on how they have acted quickly to contain the disease.
“Can I commend your Government for the manner in which you’ve dealt with COVID-19, since the outbreak earlier this year,” he said.
“I think you’re an exemplar to the rest of the world for the speed and the decisiveness in which you acted to contain the disease in this country.
“And as a result now, six months back there has been no community transmission and you deserved to be congratulated.”
Furthermore, he also acknowledged the Government for consistently supporting and promoting initiatives for children.
“Child Safe Volunteering (CSV) Hub funded by the Australian Government aims to support child safeguarding and responsible volunteering tourism practices,” he added.
“The Fijian Government has consistently supported and promoted initiatives for children in this country.”
