It’s no secret that New Mavida Lodge on Beach Street is the pitstop for most very important people who travel to Levuka.

In the coming weeks, Mavida will for the first time host the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote, who will be in Levuka for a tree planting initiative.

Declared a heritage building, New Mavida Lodge had undergone extensive renovations in 2006.

Set with a colonial type structure, this year New Mavida has become the official host for the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, other Government Ministers, members of the diplomats corps, senior civil servants and locals who were in Levuka for either official business, personal and pleasure engagements.

The lodge, which operates at full house every week, has nine rooms, two Ocean View rooms, seven Garden View rooms and a dormitory.

Lodge manageress Pasepa Seru said they have been blessed that even with COVID-19 pandemic, Mavida has been able to keep a full house.

“I thank God that we are able to host many high-profile guests on top of the everyday operational demands of high occupancy.

“We recently hosted the Heads of Missions in Fiji who were part of a delegation led by the Attorney-General and the Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum that visited heritage sites in Levuka.

“Levuka has so much to offer.

“We are looking forward to hosting more VIP and local tourists to enjoy our affordable and quality accommodation.”

You can fly to Levuka from Suva and return on  Northern Air or catch a ferry. But be sure to check ferry schedules and fare prices for Venu Shipping Limited andPatterson Brothers Shipping Company Limited.
