When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Fiji, Sigatoka hotel worker Laisiana Adi was devastated at first.

She and others in her workplace were sent home. But help has come just in time through the Government’s COVID-19 Concessional Financial support Package for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

With the assistance, Ms Adi, a former Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort staff, has started her own food catering business in Sigatoka. The mother of four who applied for the loan took good advantage of it, with hopes of establishing her business.

She said: “I am so happy and blessed to be one of the recipients to receive the loan. I am grateful to the Government for providing this loan, especially for us hotel workers who were laid off.

“I thank God that the money came at the right time when I started off with my food catering business. This business will help me support my family, children’s education, and our church ministry. I will also open a saving account for future purposes.

She now awaits a decision from the Sigatoka Town Council to give her a permanent venue to operate from.
