Flying Fijians utility back Ben Volavola continues to impress for Perpignan in the French ProD2 competition.

Volavola was moved to centre from his usual first- five eighth position but managed to score 14 points in their 27-6 win over Mountaban on Saturday night to push them closer to a Top 14 spot.

In a Top 14 clash, blockbusting winger Josua Tuisova scored a try for Lyon as they upset table leaders Toulouse 16-7 yesterday. Lyon have moved to third spot and a contender for the semifinal.

Volavola and Tuisova are among the France-based players that are going to join the Flying Fijians camp in Limoges (Haure-Vienne) to prepare for November’s Autumn Nations Cup.

Fijian players of Haereiti Hetet, Samuela Tawake, Manueli Ratuniyarawa, Tevita Ikanivere, Simione Kuruvoli, and Serupepeli Vularika have left for Paris with head coach Vern Cotter and assistant Glen Jackson after the Barbarians clash against England was cancelled.

Only openside flanker Rusiate Nasove is on his way back since he is not in the Flying Fijians squad.

None of the Fijian players were among the 12 Barbarian players who had breached the COVID-19 rules

The team’s only setback is the withdrawal of star centre Semi Radradra due to a hamstring injury.

The Flying Fijians play a warm-up against Portugal on November 7. They face France on November 15 at Vannes and Italy on November 21 before they travel to Murrayfield to play Scotland on November 28.
