Labasa is banking on the Volitikoro sisters to do wonders for them at the 2020 Vodafone Women’s Inter-District Championship (IDC).

The Safetech Electrical Services-sponsored team is among the favourites to win annual event which starts at the ANZ Stadium, Suva today.

Coach Arthur Simmons said they target to come out victors at the IDC.

“We’re not going to underestimate any team, that is our goal and we will do our best,” Simmons said.

“We will take one game at a time. We didn’t get the numbers that we wanted but we’ll not have that as an excuse, we will do well in this tournament.

“We also have two sisters who are playing together for the first time and we are banking on them to lead the charge.

“The Volitikoro sisters both have been called in for the national team for U19 and U17.”

Anasimeci Volitikoro (U19) plays left link while Dibola Volitikoto(U17) plays striker.

“Almost half of the squad are students and couple of senior players to guide them.

“Some of the senior players are not available which is good for the young girls to step up.”

Simmons is calling on the Babasiga fans to support the girls.

Labasa play southern champions Tailevu/Naitasiri at 6.30pm today.
