$190K Restroom Facility Opens In Korovou

Plans for a new market, a commercial centre and a housing subdivision are in the pipeline for Korovou, said Minister for Local Government, Premila Kumar.

She made the announcement during the opening of the $190,000 restroom facility for Korovou town.

Built to a design which could be replicated by other towns, Ms Kumar said there were other things coming up for Korovou.

“The market, commercial centre and housing subdivision are plans but time will bring these plan into fruition,” she said.

She said the restroom was modern and delivered a service expected by the public.

“I have been very critical whenever I visit the municipal councils, critical of the various infrastructure they have created over time,” she said.

“Especially with restrooms. There is a large contrast on what the community wants and what the municipal councils create.”

She said with the new facility, municipal councils had a template that could be used for other towns.

The new facilities would be user pay to ensure that the cost of providing an essential service was met.

Ms Kumar also met with the business community from Korovou to discuss issues affecting the town.

Among the issues that were highlighted were the cleaning of blocked drains and a possible surveillance camera system for Korovou.
