Kumar Not Employed By FijiFirst, Sayed-Khaiyum Tells
Kishore Kumar.

Suspended High School teacher Kishore Kumar is not employed by the FijiFirst nor is he paid by the party.

The clarification was made by FijiFirst general secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, yesterday.

Mr Kumar has previously publicly claimed that he heads the party’s social media team.

Responding to questions during a press conference, about Mr Kumar’s alleged involvement with the party, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said, Mr Kumar does not manage their social media team.

He said the same way Mr Kumar is claiming that he worked for the National Federation Party, is the same way he claims to have worked for FijiFirst.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said Mr Kumar has been critical of FijiFirst individual ministers including the Prime Minister, and other political parties and like many others he is a free agent, who has his own opinions and views.

“There are many people who claim they make statements on behalf of parties. Many people claim many things,” he said.

“We can’t do anything about it. That’s the beauty from one perspective of people being able to express their views but there is a fine line between being racist or defamatory or slanderous or making factually incorrect statements and there are a lot of fake news on social media.”

He also encouraged the media not to prejudice the outcome of the investigations by the Police and Ministry of Education.

Meanwhile, Mr Kumar was taken in for questioning by the Criminal Investigations Department on Tuesday. Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro, confirmed that he was released yesterday pending investigations.
