Alanieta Velulu and her young family are already making plans to return to the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa’s November Beach, Beat and Eats event. It’s scheduled for November 27 – 29, 2020.

The theme is Summer Beach Party with beachside spit roasts and seafood along with a Margarita Mexican Bar. Ms Velulu had inquired with five other properties before choosing to stay at the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa, past weekend.

She did not know that they would get to experience the October Beach, Beat & Eats event. “I remember coming here for work meetings, and what stood out for me was the kids’ park. That was the main driving force for us to choose Shangri-La.”

Ms Velulu is a Gender Project Officer with the European Union. She was accompanied by five adults and five children. “We booked three rooms and we’ve had fun and quality time as a family. There’s always something for the kids to do to keep them occupied.”

Ms Velulu said the Shangri-La’s Fijian Getaway package was reasonably priced along with the service they received. With the children all under the age of seven and the youngest, four-month old Stevie, Ms Velulu said the drive from Suva was comfortable. It was a bonus that their booking coincided with the Beach, Beat and Eats event.

“We love the family atmosphere and the staff go out of their way to ensure we are comfortable. It’s our first time here as a family, and we are definitely returning.”

Last Saturday night saw the Vou Dance group breaking it down at the Lagoon Terrance Restaurant. Their performance drew diners, young and old.

After the Asian-flavored buffet dinner, guests made their way to the poolside to listen to the popular Inside-Out band led by lead singer and guitarist, Apakuki Nalawa.
