Two terminated contractors of the Lautoka swimming pool project have taken legal action against the Lautoka City Council.

Work at the site is currently on hold, with only three Lautoka City Council workers maintaining the pool.

It started as a $2m recreational pool project in 2015.

In 2017, stakeholders suggested that instead a competition pool should be built – thus the cost increased to $7.8m.

By the end of the same year, with a revised scope including International Swimming Federation (FINA) standard specifications – the cost had further escalated to $12.6m.
