Suspended high school teacher Kishore Kumar, who made comments against Opposition Member of Parliament Lenora Qereqeretabua, said he was not affiliated with any political party.

Mr Kumar was released from Police custody yesterday after being held for almost 48 hours.

“I am the administrator of an online forum called the Fiji First Party. It is not associated with any political party and it is spelt differently for the name of the party which has formed the Government,” Mr Kumar said.

FijiFirst general secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had already clarified that in no way was the suspended teacher affiliated to the party.

Mr Kumar said he was treated fairly by the Police, and was happy that every minute of the interview was recorded on video.

He added that he would be replying to the Ministry of Education regarding his suspension, and would follow the disciplinary procedure set out for civil servants.

“It is a process where I will be making submissions and replying to the Ministry of Education. It will be up to them to consider my suspension,” he said.

Mr Kumar said he was not charged.
