Fitness is going to be Suva’s weapon as they head into today’s Vodafone Women’s Interdistrict Championship semifinal against Labasa.

Suva team manager, George Brown, said they had prepared well for the tournament.

The Capital City side are led by Fijiana 7s rover and Olympian Viniana Riwai.

“The girls have been training really hard, they were in camp for a month,” Brown said.

“Our performance has been good because of the players’ fitness.

“I’m urging Suva supporters to come out in big numbers since we are hosting and are eyeing the IDC title.

Meanwhile, Labasa coach Arthur Simmons said despite the unavailability of their senior players they were out to expose their young talents.

“It’s time for these young girls to show what they have and what they can bring to the table. They need to step-up and get to know what it is like to play in the IDC,” he said.

Simmons said some of their players were secondary school students.

He indicated that like any other team they are gunning for the top prize.

“We will take it one game at a time,” Simmons added.

BA TARGET MORE GOALS

The Ba football team are going to play an attacking game against Rewa in today’s second semifinal.

This was revealed by Ba captain Luisa Tamanitoakula indicating that it is important for them to score a lot of goals.

“Our focus is to sharpen up on our finishing and to turn opportunities into goals,” she said.

“We are ready to defend the IDC title at all cost.
