Vehicle Accident Causes Unplanned Power Outage At Beaumont Road And Vatoa Road,  Narere

There was an unplanned power outage at 4:05am this morning, Thursday 5th November, 2020, due to a vehicle colliding with an EFL power pole at Beaumont Road, Narere.

This caused a power disruption to our valued customers who are provided power supply via the Nakasi Feeder around the Narere to Nakasi area.

The outage had affected the supply of electricity to our customers in the following areas: Muanikoso, whole of Narere, whole of Wainibuku, Rups Mall in Nakasi, HA Subdivision and part of Kings Road from Muanikoso till Vishnu Deo Road junction.

Teams were dispersed to attend to this fault in the early hours of the morning and power supply had been restored to majority of the areas by 4:52am.

Customers in Navosai, Narere Industrial area and Narere Road were restored by 10:57am after alterations were carried out on the powerline network however, they will experience a small duration of power outage again in the evening when repair works are complete and the system is being normalized.

The remaining affected areas are: Part of Beaumont Road from Vatoa Road junction to Kelland Street junction and part of Vatoa Road from Beaumont Road junction to Vatoa Settlement including South Pacific Commission (SPC).

EFL teams are currently carrying out the damaged power pole replacement and associated repair works which is expected to be completed by later this evening. Thursday 5th November, 2020 following which power supply will be fully restored.

EFL kindly requests drivers and machine operators to exercise caution while driving and maneuvering vehicles to avoid causing damages to EFL assets resulting in power disruptions.

EFL wishes to remind the public that EFL will take appropriate action to recover repair costs associated with damages to EFL assets, as well as report the same to relevant authorities (Police, Labour Department, etc.) for them to investigate and take appropriate action.

The EFL sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused to all our valued customers due to this unplanned power outage, which was beyond our control.
