“Democracy is alive and well within SODELPA, but it’s unfortunate that certain people in the community and other political parties have been demonising the processes that exist within the party,” Ms Tabuya said.

A leaders forum was formed during the SODELPA Management Board meeting yesterday. The forum consits of the party leader, Sitiveni Rabuka, president, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau and the three vice president’s, Ro Teimumu Kepa, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu and George Shiu Raj.

This was confirmed by Opposition Whip, Lynda Tabuya, after the meeting.

She said the new forum will look into grievances and disputes advanced by party members instead of going through the constitutional process.

“Democracy is alive and well within SODELPA, but it’s unfortunate that certain people in the community and other political parties have been demonising the processes that exist within the party,” Ms Tabuya said.

She also confirmed that the arbiter and forensics accountant has found no fraud in the grievances highlighted by SODELPA members in the United States of America.

The members had filed complaints against former party secretary, Adi Litia Qionibaravi, on donor and finance issues.

“They complained about Adi Litia Qionibaravi, and the Management Board has agreed to accept the findings of the arbiter and close the case,” she said.

“If there are any issues that conflict resolution can address that should be encouraged.”

While leaving yesterday’s meeting, Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, said he was not happy with the meeting.

However, he did not divulge details the reasons.

Attempts to get comments from general secretary, Emele Duituturaga, were unsuccessful.

The SODELPA annual general meeting will take place on November 28 in Suva.
