Suva will play without key players in their last Vodafone Premier League match against Nadi at the ANZ Stadium on Sunday.

The capital side needs a draw to win the title but they will have to do it without skipper Filipe Baravilala, Sairusi Nalaubu, Meli Codro and Remueru Takiate.

“These players are all members of the Fiji Police Force and are expected to leave for Kadavu for anti-drug operation,” coach Babs Khan said.

“They are experienced players so it will be a big blow but their non-availability opened doors for young players in the squad,

“I believe they will fit in just right.

“The Jetsetters have a  good coach in Kamal Swamy and he will field a  strong team that will give us a good game.

“They have nothing to lose so they will want to spoil the party. We will be prepared for that.

“We’ve prepared well and will approach this game like a final.”

“The players know how important this game is and their hard work through the season will be rewarded if we win the VPL.”

And the final matches will be a crucial one for Rewa, Suva, Ba and Nadi.

The capital city side only needs a draw against Nadi to win the title while Rewa’s hope is to beat Lautoka and pray that Suva lose to Nadi.

Ba also stands an outside chance if they beat Labasa and hope that Suva and Rewa lose their matches.

MENTAL APPROACH

The Suva football team need to work on their mental approach in their clash against Nadi.

Coach Babs Khan highlighted this after their 1-1 draw against Rewa, last Sunday. They had a lot of opportunities to score goals but failed to do so.

Heading into this weekends game the players should be switched on to make sure Nadi does not spoil the party.

“We need to work on our concentration,” he said.

“ What we need is to captalize on the chances that come our during the game, we might be without our goal scorer Sairusi Naulubu but I believe in Christopher Wasasala to score goals for Suva.”

“We might fill some young players for the game against Nadi to test them before the Vodafone Fiji Fact.”

“ That is a big advantage for us as we try and groom our young players in the squad.”

Fixtures:

Sunday: 3pm Suva-Nadi, Lautoka-Rewa, Navua-Nasinu.
