Ex- Suva Star Helps Savusavu Win Muslim IDC

Former Fiji and Suva star midfielder Tony Kabakoro was the brains behind the Hussein Hardware and Shah Construction Limited sponsored- Suvasavu side that hoisted the Digicel Vanua Levu Muslim Interdistrict Championship’s Super Premier title.
Savusavu beat Tabia 1-0 in the final at Subrail Park, Labasa, on Sunday night.
An emotional Savusavu team coach Tony Kabakoeo said the players gave their best and made their fans proud.
“It was a proud day for the team and it was a great achievement for a young side,” he said.
Kabakoro who played for Suva when they won the national IDC title in 1981 said they have talented players in the squad.
“It wasn’t an easy task but we wanted to win the title. We have played a few matches before this tournament and I saw the confidence in the boys that they can win the title.”
He said it was very difficult for them since they were travelling on a daily basis from Savusavu to Labasa to play their matches.
“We had a few players in our team who have been playing for some time. From next year we are trying to get in more young players in order to enhance their skills in football.”
Kabakoro said there were many talented players in the Tabia team and have played very well throughout the tournament.
“This win was special because Fiji had celebrated its 50th independence.
The win is dedicated to the players and sponsors.
