There are 620 people currently being monitored by the Border Health Protection Unit in quarantine facilities in the West.

Between April 2 to November 9, a total of 859,882 people have been screened with a national coverage of 97.2 per cent of Fiji’s population.

Minister for Health and Medical Services, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete said, frontline workers remain robust with their safeguarding measures and work diligently to protect all members of community.

Speaking at the handover ceremony of 300 Gallons of cleaning products, Dr Waqainabete said it will go towards boosting services provided at quarantine facilities.

The cleaning products were donated by Mean Products (Fiji) Limited, worth $10,000.

Fiji’s COVID-19 fatality rate remains at 5.88 per cent and it has been 208 days since Fiji’s last community transmission case.

“With the Ministry of Health’s Remodelling structure, we have never stopped with the operations on the ground as we continue to move into the hard to reach places in ensuring they are provided the same health care,” Dr Waqainabete said.

Mean products marketing manager, Sanjay Singh, acknowledged the work of the ministry and all frontline workers in containing the virus and said it was a privilege to be able to assist with their operations.
