A Nausori man who robbed a pedestrian of his mobile phone, wallet and cash was jailed for three years by the High Court yesterday.
Trial judge, Justice Thushara Rajasinghe said crimes of this nature, such as aggravated robbery, have an effect on endangering the innocent public and their freedom of life.
Justice Rajasinghe, while sentencing 24-year-old Tagilala Jeke, imposed a non-parole period of one year. The judge said he hoped that the sentence acts as a deterrence and the protection of the community.
