Chinese Embassy Gives $90,000 For Sigatoka Town Amphitheatre Works

The Chinese Embassy gave the Sigatoka Town Council a grant of $90,000, for the completion of an amphitheatre on the riverbanks . They praised the work done by Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar.
Chinese Ambassador Qian Bo said Ms Kumar had done excellent work in upgrading the towns and cities in Fiji.
He said China was always happy to help and a lot had been through the sister city relationships.
Ms Kumar stated that the generosity of this grant from the Chinese Government would ensure that Sigatoka Town continues to implement its plan of beautification works.
“Work on the 100 seat amphitheatre has begun and these funds will ensure that it can be completed to a high standard and thus be used in all weather,” she said.
The funds from the Chinese Government would also contribute to the concreting of the new Mission Road car park to ensure that it has a safe and secure surface.
Ms Kumar said the new car park was already increasing access to local businesses and fees collected were being used by Sigatoka Council.
She said the amphitheatre would be complemented by the provision of a café and washroom.
