It would be wrong for France to focus on one player in their opening game of the Autumn Nations Cup against Fiji in Vannes at 3am on Monday.

Despite a solid build up convincingly beating Six Nations opponents Wales and Ireland, France and Montpellier centre Arthur Vincent issued the warning in playing the 11th ranked Fijians.

He emphasised the focus at training was on Fiji and not individual players like team captain Semi Radradra.

“We were able to fine-tune the details in the 35-27 win over Ireland and against Wales,” Vincent told Midi Olympique, a France bi-weekly rugby newspaper.

“It’s time to switch on to our next game against Fiji with the best possible preparation.

“The most important thing is to focus on our game. The watchword is really to stay in our game plan.

“And regardless of the players who will wear the jersey, we all belong to the same group. We know that everyone will defend the jersey as well as possible.”

He said while the focus was on Radradra, Fiji have exceptional players.

“They have exceptional players. We are talking about Josua Tuisova but also obviously about Radradra who went through our championship,”Vincent said.

“He is a player who has a lot of talent, we see him playing in England. It is very important in their system but let’s not focus on it, knowing that it has the ability to change the course of a game.”

Vincent knows Flying Fijians head coach Vern Cotter having played under him when he was coaching Montpellier.

“Everyone knows Vern’s rugby science. A coach like him can be beneficial for such a team. I recently saw a report where he quite rightly explained that he was not going to teach them to play rugby. In the game, ball in hand, what do you want to teach them?

“But it can possibly bring them rigor on certain technical or tactical aspects. We should really be careful.”
