Fashion designer and businesswoman, Adi Koila Ganilau, has travelled extensively.

As she prepares to launch her new line of sustainable fashion wear, SunBiz caught up with her, to discuss her travel endeavours.

What Is The One Place You’d Take Every Visitor To In Fiji, And Why?

Taveuni, because not only do I hail from there, I know all the spots there that tourists like.

There are hidden spots too.

It’s enchanting.

There’s something about Taveuni, which might be linked to the fact that the International Date Line passes through, or something in the air.

Ask anyone who has been there – nothing affects you, not even a glass of wine.

You don’t get hungover, you don’t get sick, and you can never get tired of the sea and the waterfall.

In Taveuni, there’s always something to do at every single turn.

The day runs out when you still have so much to do.

What is your favourite coffee/pie place?

Espresso, Suva Central, for their freshly squeezed juices, and their paninis.

A beachfront in Taveuni.

A beachfront in Taveuni.

What is the one Fiji spot on your bucket list?
The remote outer Lau islands, because I’ve been to every other island.

One of the many pools of Taveuni.

One of the many pools of Taveuni.

What is your secret backyard spot?
My children and I were working during COVID-19 – making masks – so we didn’t create the backyard spot.

But if there had to be one, it would be in Taveuni, or somewhere in the hills.

The Namosi highlands, for the gorges, boulders and the waters, might make a perfect spot.

In the interior somewhere, up in the bushes, or the beach, with a hammock and a book.

It would also be a secluded beach with nothing and no one else around -just me and God.
