Three men who allegedly assaulted a bus driver resulting in his death last month have been remanded in custody by the High Court in Suva.

Tailevu school teacher, Mikaele Lawaniyavi, 44, Josateki Rokodakunivosa Rabula, 22 and Isikeli Tawake Lagibalavu, 20, appeared before Justice Aruna Aluthge, at the High Court yesterday.

The three are jointly charged with one count of murder.

They allegedly assaulted the 56-year-old bus driver, Subhas Chand, inside his bus parked at the Nausori Bus Station on October 3 at about 12.45pm.

The victim succumbed to his injuries and died on October 9.

Prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Setefano Komaibaba, told the court that the state had received the post mortem report of the deceased yesterday morning and sought time to finalise the charges before the information was filed.

Justice Aluthge has granted time for the state to file and serve information and adjourned the matter for mention to November 20.
