Datt Dedicates Fiji50 Medal To Late Husband

Police Inspector Savita Datt only wished for her late husband to witness her achievement yesterday.
This after she received her 50th Anniversary Independence Commemorative Medal from the President, Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote at the Nasova Grounds.
The 55-year-old has been serving the country for 34 years.
Ms Datt dedicated her medal to her late husband who was also a Police officer and served for 30 years before his passing.
“We joined the force together and if he was still alive today, he would also be receiving a medal,” she said.
Inspector Datt is based at the border control unit at the Nadi International Airport.

“Women play a big part in the Police system and at the same time encounter many challenges,” she said.
Ms Datt said she wanted to be an inspiration to other women who wanted to join the Fiji Police Force and serve the nation.
Her son, Ashitosh Datt, said he was proud to see her mother and his father would have been happy to witness her achievement if he was alive.
“I love my mother a lot and she is very hard working and despite her struggles, she always kept us happy by putting food on the table and she takes good care of us,” he said.
More than 100 officers were recognised yesterday.
