Hoping to expand her business and provide more employment opportunities, entrepreneur, Siteri Turaganivalu is working to make her New Era Cafe prosper.

The mother of two children said while she was in the United Kingdom with her family, she received a calling from God to move to Labasa.

Speaking to her pastor, she said her purpose was revealed – to start a business with what little she had. And thus she started searching for a space and set up the New Era Cafe in February this year.

The former head girl of Nasinu Secondary School said this challenge had not come easy, especially with her husband stuck in the United States of America due to the border closure.

“My being obedient to what the Lord has placed in my heart has really surprised me the way this new business is thriving,” Mrs Turaganivalu said.

“I was able to employ three staff who were laid off from their previous jobs as a result of the pandemic.

“New Era Cafe is bringing in something new that is not in town, the taste and the prices as well.

“My aim is to venture out and continue to provide employment in the near future,” she said.

Ms Turaganivalu said she hoped to hire more people later who had previously lost jobs due to the pandemic.

She had graduated from the University of the South Pacific with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Chemistry and Biology in 2004 and joined her husband in the UK in 2005. Her husband is currently in the United States of America.
