Police Officers Told To Comply With Bail Conditions

Five suspended Police Officers who allegedly threw a 32-year-old man off a bridge in Naqia, Wainibuka, have been ordered to comply with their bail conditions by the High Court in Suva.

Sevanaia Narogi, Kameli Tukana, Mafoa Korosaya, Inoke Nagata and Jokaveti Rabuku appeared before Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza yesterday.

The five suspended Police officers appeared for their alleged involvement in the Naqia assault case on April 14, 2020, whereby four of the accused persons are alleged to have assaulted and threw Inoke Lagicere off Naqia Bridge in Naitasiri.

In court, the State prosecutor told the court that the proposed agreed facts were served to the defence counsels.

The prosecutor sought time to file and serve the prosecution’s case theory which was granted by Justice Hamza.

Justice Hamza has warned the accused persons to remain on good behaviour and comply with the bail conditions.

The matter will be called on December 11 for mention to fix trial dates.
