Fire Destroys Sigatoka Town Eatery For The Second Time

Vilisite’s milkbar and takeaway restaurant, a popular stopover located at the entrance of the Sigatoka mini bus stand was destroyed in a fire on Saturday night.
It is understood that this was the second time the restaurant has been destroyed by fire.
A video circulating on social media showed the small eatery engulfed in flames.
Nadi and Sigatoka board of special administrators’ chair, Adish Naidu, said he was aware of the incident but was not sure of what caused the fire.
“This is going to affect the whole town. They sell a variety of food available and it was a stopover for passengers of mini busses,” he said
“So now that it’s no longer there, it might take a while for them to get established again, it’s going to affect the business owners.”
Mr Naidu said due assistance would be provided by people of Sigatoka.
“I’m sure people of Sigatoka will join hands and assist the owners,” he said.
The owners could not be reached for a comment when this edition went to press last night.
Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro, said the Police and the National Fire Authority responded to the report after 11pm when the incident occured.
“Joint investigations continue to ascertain the cause of fire,” Ms Naisoro said.
