Let’s Go Local: Sawa-i-lau Is A Favourite, Says CEO

Captain Cook Cruises chief executive officer, Allison Haworth West, is passionate about showcasing Fiji’s hidden tourism spots.
“I am very proud that our family, along with the Koroilavesau family, have been in business sharing the fabulous destinations of Fiji with visitors for the past 30 years,” she said.
“I am happy that Fiji locals are getting the chance to experience a lot of places and products during the COVID-19 period, through the Love Our Local campaign,”Ms West said.
What’s one place you’d take every visitor to in Fiji, and why?
Our gorgeous island Tivua.
With 500 acres of coral surrounding the island and the legendary aqua blue clear water, sailing out on board one of our historic sailing ships and enjoying the natural beauty is an essential experience.
You can even plant coral, paddleboard, or go for a dive.

What’s your secret backyard favourite spot?
The Lau group of islands.
Fijians know it is not that easy to travel to the Lau group.
Being able to experience this beautiful and remote part of Fiji on the Reef Endeavour’s eleven night cruises is a very special thing.
We only do two of these cruises a year, in March and October, and they are always in high demand.

What’s your favourite place in Fiji for a pie and coffee?
Lulu’s at Denarau Marina.
I love to have coffee there, and will often schedule meetings there enjoying watching the Captain Cook fleet come and go from the wharf right in front of us.
The coffee and cake are great, of course.
What’s one Fiji spot on the top of your bucket list?
One of my favourite places is the Sawa-i-lau limestone caves in the Northern Yasawas.
We love them and the gorgeous blue lagoon so much that we have included them in both the three and four night itineraries that we have scheduled for December.
A real treat for locals – especially at the incredible 65 per cent off rate we are offering.
