Team Vuvale Win

The Mike Hennessy captained- Team Vulvale will represent Fiji as a wild card entry to the Off-Shore World Championships in Costa Rica, next year.
This is after the team with crew Ulai Niunitoga and Mika Tamanitoakula were crowned the overall winners at the 2020 annual Fiji Classics Game Fishing competition over the weekend.
Hennessy said, “Thanks for a great competition, and all the anglers had heaps of laughs and good fishing!
“I thank my crew for taking out the event and winning the wildcard entry to the Off Shore World Championships in Costa Rica next year. Fingers crossed that the borders will be opened by then.”
Mika Tamanitoakula and Amanda Peaty took out the Champion Male and Champion Female angler prize while the Junior Champion angler was awarded to Zachary Wakeman
In other awards, Clay George- First Tag and Release Sailfish, Amanda Peaty- Heaviest Mahi Mahi and Trent Irvine- Heaviest Skipjack Tuna.
Denarau Game Fishing Club president Jared Wood said, “There was perfect weather conditions for the three-day competition with eight boats participating.
“A total of 34 anglers. A lot of fish were caught including seven sailfish were tagged and released, one blue marlin, numerous Mahi Mahi and skipjack tuna.”
“A big thank you to our sponsors McDonald’s, Shimano, Flame Tree Developments, Five Star Foods, Plaster Systems Fiji, Port Denarau Marina, Hidden Gem, Cardos Steakhouse, Radisson Blu, Bluegas, Neat Feat, and Pacific Energy.”
Wood added they are planning for a bigger and better event next year.
