The Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum dedicated his accolade to his family and acknowledged the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama’s intellect for the nation.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum received the Companion of the Order of Fiji (CF) during the 2018-2019 investiture alongside 31 Fijians at the State House in Suva yesterday.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum, who was not expecting the award said: “My wife, Ela, has been a tower of strength and the kids are always something to look forward to when I go home.”
With a busy schedule like his, he said family support played an important role in one’s public life.
“I would like to acknowledge the Prime Minister because he created that philosophical space, the intellectual space and also the administrivia space for so many things to happen in Fiji since 2007,” he said.
“With PM Voreqe Bainimarama’s good leadership, a new constitution is in place that has enabled inclusivity throughout generations.
“Young people, ordinary people are a lot more empowered and have the ability to talk on international forum on issues such as climate change.”
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum is also the Minister for Economy, Civil Service and Communications, and as Minister Responsible for Climate Change.
The Companion of the Order of Fiji is the highest of the Fijian honours system given by the President as the chancellor of the order and also as the order’s Principal Companion.
