Divisional Commissioner Northern Appointed

The Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development today announced the appointment of Mr. Uraia Rainima as Divisional Commissioner Northern.
“We’re glad to fill this vacant leadership position based on the open-merit recruitment and selection process. Mr. Rainima brings with him 30 years of experience and we are confident that he will contribute to the future growth of the Ministry and the socio-economic development of rural communities in the Northern Division”, said Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Hon. Inia Seruiratu.
Mr Rainima will ensure that rural development priorities are identified, scoped, and implemented through projects within their divisions. He will provide Strategic leadership in the planning and implementation of the Rural Development programmes in the North and performance targets across sectors aligned to the Strategic Priorties of the Ministry.
The Divisional Commissioner position plays an integral role in the mainstreaming of the Integrated Rural Development Framework and in coordinating disaster operations of Government at divisional level.
Mr Rainima was acting on the post since March 2020 and previously held the position of Divisional Planning Officer Northern. Mr. Rainima had also served in various Provincial Administrator positions in the Central and Northern Division.
Mr Rainima took up his new appointment on 5 November, 2020.
