Ami Kohli said the ground at Subrail Park can still be used for the Vodafone Fiji FACT tournament this weekend.

Kohli, the Labasa Town Special Administrator made the comment after inspecting the ground and said the council workers had used sand to cover the water-logged areas of the ground.

“We’ve seen the games were played very well after works being carried out on the ground,” Kohli said.

“We are confident with good weather on our side, games will continue as scheduled.”

He explained people should understand that no one can control weather.

“We had done major works at the ground recently in preparation for the tournament and due to heavy rain we started having issues,” he said.

“The ground was playable but continuous rain for three days affected what was already prepared.

“In the past, I have seen worst condition in other parks and games used to be played on water-logged conditions.”
