Brawl At Nasinu Secondary

Neighbours have described an all-out brawl at Nasinu Secondary School between students last Thursday as an ugly incident.
Mohammed Imtiaz lives right next to the school fence and he claimed that he saw the fight which was spread almost all over the school.
“I heard the commotion and came out. I saw students fighting in different pockets spread all over the school,” he said.
“From what we gathered, it was between day scholars and boarders.”
Mr Imtiaz said this was followed by heavy Police presence at the school.
Another neighbour, Emi Tuivuya, said: “I was not at home when the fight happened, but when I returned home on Thursday afternoon, there was a lot of police presence.
“Even this week, Police cars are visiting the school.”
Information gathered points to day scholars being involved in alleged gambling and smoking activities in the school premises.
It is alleged that there was a standoff between the boarders and the day scholars after an argument to stop such practices within school.
Nasinu Secondary School vice principal Navitilai Waiwalu denied the incident saying there was no fight.
However, Police have confirmed the incident. Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed Police were called to the school for the brawl.
Questions sent to the Ministry of Education on the incident remain unanswered.
