Adi Cakobau School’s Karalaini Nulumatua followed in the footsteps of her older sister when she was named the school’s dux for 2020 yesterday.

The 17-year-old Arts student, who has paternal links in Naveicovatu Village, Wainibuka, Tailevu, said she wants to become an auditor.

“My sister, Sereana Buirokomata, is in accounting and seeing her grow has motivated me to study accounting,” she said.

Karalaini also said she was surprised to be called on stage to receive the dux award.

“God has been so great in my life. He is the provider for everything if he wasn’t in my life, I would not receive the dux award,” she said.

She dedicates her achievements to her parents for their constant support.

She also scooped the first prize, subject awards in Maths, Economics, Computer Studies and the Best Commerce Student award.

Her mother, Arieta Keteivalu said she was emotional and proud of her daughter’s achievement.

“I have got no words to say, but my tears express my happiness for my daughter,” she said.
