If 47 trophies wasn’t enough to indicate what a remarkable achiever she was, Ashley Chand added another to top it up.

Yesterday she became the 2020 dux of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School.

Between her and her two brothers, a trophy case in their living room stands gleaming with over 100 trophies and plaques against the wall.

Ashley also scooped subject award in maths, accounting, computer and economics. She also received first prize and was named the 2019 highest scorer for the Fiji Year 12 Certificate Examination.

The 18-year-old of Princes Road, Tamavua dedicated her dux award to her family, especially her parents.

“My parents have supported me to do my best in schoolwork and the award and trophies that I have been receiving is all because of their hope in me,” she said.

Ashley said she wants to do finance and accounting next year at the University of the South Pacific.

“I love accounting and always get high marks in my internal examination,” she said.

She said she would work hard and aim for a good mark for her upcoming Year 13 External Examination which begins next week. Edited by Ranoba Baoa
