Brace for more rain.

That’s the advice from the Fiji Meteorological Service after its latest forecast yesterday indicated two tropical disturbances were brewing tomorrow and on Friday.

The first will be named TD01F. It is expected to drift the West side of the country passing the North.

“A tropical low is located near Samoa and is expected to intensify into a tropical disturbance by this evening and will be numbered TD01F.

“This system is expected to drift westwards and pass just to the north of Fiji tomorrow.

“As this system moves westwards, the southeasterly winds are expected to be enhanced, bringing more rain and strong winds over the eastern and northern parts of the group.

“These winds are not damaging but could be dangerous for those navigating Fiji waters.”

The second tropical disturbance, will be referred to as  TD02F.  It is expected to develop on Friday in the North-east of Rotuma.

“On Friday, we expect the two disturbances to come close together where one of them will dominate and the other to weaken off.

“While the system is expected to track closer to Vanuatu and New Caledonia for now, it poses no immediate threat to the Fiji group.”
