The Fiji Police Force is on track to dominate the 2020 FMF Ratu Sukuna Bowl Rise Fiji Rise competitions.

After defeating the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) in cricket and football, Police won the volleyball as the men and women overpowered their counterparts from Delainabua.

The Police (men) won 3-1 and the women 3-1.

Police women’s volleyball team captain, Ulamila Karitiana said: “Firstly, I would like to thank the Lord, who has been our source of strength, for the past two weeks in camp.

“We have been seeking His guidance and strength.

“Our counterparts gave us a good game, but we came out stronger.

“We dedicate this win to our families back at home and to the Fiji Police Force.”

So far the Team Police have outscored their counterparts 4-1 with the only win for the Queen Elizabeth Barracks brigade came via their netball Team Two who won 38-31.

This is in total contrast to last year’s where RFMF won the cricket, volleyball, netball, oldies rugby and the main event 20-17.

And this years’ main event kick-off at 4.30pm today when Subrails RFMF defend the Ratu Sukuna Bowl

And the week-long event which usually wraps off the sporting season for another year is expected to draw a good crowd.

Funds raised from the event would be directed to the people of Fiji, particularly children, who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the launching of the event, Commander RFMF, Rear-Admiral Naupoto acknowledged both Forces for their hard work in working with other frontline agencies to keep Fiji COVID-19 contained.

“The theme of Ratu Sukuna Bowl 2020 is Rise Fiji Rise. The theme reflects the spirit of the nation now as we navigate through the challenges brought about by the pandemic,” he said.
