Water Disruption Continues

Residents are weary of waiting while some are tensed.
The water carting is taking its time to reach the people in Nakasi, Wainibuku, Sasawira and areas up to the Rewa Bridge in Nausori.
And this may be the situation for at least the next three days.
The Water Authority of Fiji is advising the public to store water.
This is because of a malfunctioned gate valve at the Wainibuku junction.
In a statement, WAF said the gate valve controls treated water stored at the Wainibuku Reservoir before it is reticulated to customers.
Residents in the affected areas were seen lined up waiting for water with buckets, pots and drums.
In Nakasi road, a frustrated Fane Kama questioned the water carting team as to why they were not delivering water to small streets. She had to walk for at least 200 metres from her home to where the carting team was to supply water.
“How do you expect us to carry water from here to our homes?” she questioned the team.
The water supply was cut off at about 4pm on Wednesday.
Ms Kama said the team had informed the residents that they would provide services to all areas.
Salesh Sami said not having water was a real inconvenience and there were health issues associated.
Ane Tubuna said it was more difficult for children. She said things could be made easier with a time table.
WAF in its statement said customers living along the Kings Road from the Wainibuku junction to the Rewa Bridge were currently experiencing water supply disruptions
A total shutdown of the Wainibuku Reservoir outlet is required for the valve replacement.
“WAF did not immediately carry out repairs as this would result in a larger section of the Nasinu area without water for days,” WAF said in a statement.
