The works of Fijian designers and artists were displayed at the Grand Pacific Hotel during the Loma ni Vale exhibition which began yesterday.

Hot Glass Fiji owner, Alice Hill, who had the opportunity to showcase her hand-blown glass artwork said, it was an exciting event.

“The excitement of seeing a new interior design exhibition here in Fiji is really special, and the fact that all the items will be for sale”, she said.

Ms Hill is an experienced professional glassblower who has trained and worked in the glass blowing industry in the United Kingdom.

“All my glassware artwork being displayed here is made in our studio located at Korotogo on the Coral Coast.

She said the inspiration behind her hand-blown glass artwork came from Fiji.

“It is a celebration of the Fijian culture, the rainforest and ocean.”

Ms Hill said she would love to have the Loma ni vale exhibition again next year.

“We would love to be able to showcase more artists’ work and hopefully have more partners to come in and help with sponsorship, she said.

According to Ms Hill the opportunity for artists to make some money before Christmas was important.

“With the situation we are in with COVID-19, the artists pushed themselves in a very short space of time to produce some incredible interior design artwork at the exhibition,” she said.

“I would like to invite people to come and have a look around and see the artwork on display.”

The Loma ni Vale exhibition will be open from 9am to 6pm daily, and will close at midday on December 15, at the Grand Pacific Hotel’s Rara Lounge.
