The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji is requesting all ship owners, ship operators, ship masters, ship agents for foreign and local ships, this including pilots, Port Management Companies and Operators, Marinas and Yacht Clubs to be heedful of the approaching Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

TC Yasa is now a category 1 cyclone, and was located 540kilometeres west – northwest of Viwa Island in the Yasawa group as of 0600hrs today.

The Authority is calling on small boat owners to take necessary precautionary measures to ensure their boats are safe and to avoid any non-essential travel until it is safe to do so.

Ship owners must provide all necessary support to masters of their ships and exercise good judgment to ensure their ships are kept safe during the passing of the cyclone.
