TC YASA: Strong Winds In Rotuma, All Safe
Villagers of Ahou in Rotuma experienced strong winds as of 9 am this morning.
Ahou villager, Veresoni Antonio said the island has been experiencing very strong winds where banana trees have been uprooted and root crops destroyed.
Mr Antonio said there has not been any house damages for now and everyone are safe in their homes.
“There is not really much rain and there is no flooding too but only very strong winds that we are currently experiencing and everyone is safe,” Mr Antonio said.
“It started at around 9 in the morning and it continued till now. No houses have been destroyed,” he said.
Only the direction is changing, the wind speed is still the same.
He added that there are no one evacuation centres on the island.
Mr Antonio could not verify a video that’s being circulated on social media as there was no rain, but only strong winds.
