Close to 2000 Fijians in Evacuation Centres In the North

More than 1772 Fijians have so far been evacuated in the Northern division at the moment.

 This was confirmed by Acting divisional planning officer North Vishwa Deo during a press conference earlier this afternoon.
Deo said there are 37 evacuation centres are open in all three provinces in the North.
“14 evacuation centres in Bua, 8 in Cakaudrove and 15 in Macuata.
 “People who think their houses cannot stand Category four or five winds, please move to evacuation centres which are closest to you.”
He said many schools, community halls churches are opened and if you don’t know where to go try to contact your village headman, advisory councilor, district officer or provincial council for assistance.
Deo said most roads in the three provinces are closed due to flooding.
He advised motorists and people to stay indoors and not to move around unnecessarily because of landslides.
He added that towns will be closed and will not open until clearance is be given from NDMO.
“We are looking for flooding plans in case if there will be flooding in Labasa or Qawa river.
H said members of the disciplined forces including the National Fire Authority, Republic of Fiji Military Forces and Fiji Police officers were already deployed to low lying areas.
