Nadi Taxi Driver Allegedly Robbed In Nadi by Passengers

A taxi driver, who said he was robbed by two men on Monday, is counting his lucky star.
Navinesh Chetty, 44, of Sonaisali, Nadi said that at 5.45 pm, the duo had hired his taxi from Nadi town.
He said the men robbed $70 off him and had assaulted him.
Little did he know that he would reach the Province of Ra.
“When we arrived at Nasau, one passenger pulled me out of the taxi. They told me if I say anything, they would kill me with a knife,” Mr Chetty said.
He claimed that he followed whatever the men had told him because he feared for his life.
He said the men placed him at the legroom.
“The only thing that came to my mind was to pray for my life to be spared,” he said.
The father of four children said they travelled for few a hours before his vehicle was stuck in mud near Volivoli Resort.
“The two men got off to push the vehicle,” he said.
“While they were busy pushing the vehicle, I managed to free myself and fled with the vehicle.”
He quickly drove to a nearby house and alerted the Police.
According to Mr Chetty, he was misled by passengers and it was not the first time he was robbed.
Police spokesperson Savaira Tabua confirmed that a report was lodged as Police investigation continues.
