George Goundar has been a familiar face in the shipping industry. He is now the biggest shipping tycoons in the industry.

He is the managing director of Goundar Shipping Limited owning 10 passenger vessels that service the local waters, mainly to Levuka, Kadavu and Vanua Levu from Suva and Rakiraki.

What’s one place you’d take every visitor to Fiji and why?

Definitely Levuka Im not biased being from that part of the country but people tend to overlook the old capital.

Not only is the place rich in history for sites to visit, food is delicious, it is a more relaxing environment because of the locals there.

I urge the locals to go and explore Levuka, you can do a day-trip. Be there at 9am and back by 5pm. Take advantage of the opportunity.

What’s your secret backyard favourite spot?

Being busy all the time and having my sons stuck abroad my only place to de-stress and clear my head is with my dogs.

They are my stress relievers especially when I love dogs.

Mr Goundar said he can usually be found at the Nasese foreshore having a swim with his furry  friends on a stressful day.

What’s your favourite place in Fiji for a pie/coffee?

Sunny Pizza in Tamavua is definitely becoming one of my favourite quick bite spots.

What’s one Fiji spot on the top of your bucket list?

One place I have been wanting to properly explore is Rakiraki.

It too has not been exploited yet with favorable weather always.There is definitely something about the place that when you go there it is hard to leave.
