Chinese Foreign Minister Offers Sympathies and Assistance to Cyclone-hit Fijians

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi sent a message of sympathies to Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama over the casualties and severe loss of property caused by severe Tropical Cyclone Yasa.
In the message, Wang Yi expressed his sincere sympathies to the Fijian government and people on their sufferings, indicated confidence that under the strong leadership of the Fijian government and joint efforts of the Fijian people, Fiji will surely conquer the disaster and rebuild homes.
China and Fiji are comprehensive strategic partners that always support and help each other in difficult times, China will provide assistance to the best of its capacities during the disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction process, Wang Yi added.
On December 19th, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Qian Bo handed over 210,000 FJD emergency cash assistance to the Fiji Red Cross Society to support their recovery activities for the TC response, and confirmed that China will continue supporting Fijian government and people for disaster relief wherever needed.
