No Change To School Holidays, Minister Akbar Tells
School holidays will remain as it is for now.
This was said by the Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Rosy Akbar. She said after the initial assessment of the affected schools was done then there would be a decision whether to extend the holidays or not.
However, she said temporary shelters and composite classes would be their first plan before proper construction and repair of schools would be done after the initial assessment.
Meanwhile, Lekutu Secondary School is beyond repair, Ms Akbar said that a new school with genuine structures to withstand cyclones will be considered.
Ms Akbar had so far visited Lekutu Secondary, Lekutu District, Coboi Sanatan Dharma Primary School, Naikavaki, Vunivau Primary Schools.
