Rehabilitation Loan Package Activated

The Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) has activated the Special TC Yasa Disaster Rehabilitation Loan Package for affected sugar cane growers in Northern Division.
The SCGF board said in a statement yesterday it had approved the package which was effective until March 31, 2021.
A tiered based $1000 unsecured loan can be granted for immediate needs under the Priority Loan, the fund said.
Growers can also opt for $4000 secured specialised loan for house repairs and farm upgrade post cyclone, the statement from the fund said.
Conditions apply
Farms that produced below 75 tonnes would be considered, subject to policy guidelines, the fund said.
Cane Development Revolving Fund is also a Government funded loan facility that could be used for planting of cane at zero per cent interest ratel, the fund said.
The limit is $5000, repayable over five years, at a rate of $1500 per hectare.
Sugar Cane Growers Fund said it would deploy additional resources to take applications in Seaqaqa, Daku, Wainikoro and Nubu areas.
Sugar Cane Growers Council and FSC Sectors offices will also assist in completing the loan applications.
Labasa and Seaqaqa Offices will be opened on Saturdays, December 26, 2020, and January 2, 2021, from 9am to 1pm.
