Local musician, William Waqanibaravi, describes himself as uncomplicated.

The former aviation engineer became a household name after he joined the local band, Makare, where with other seasoned local musicians, some hits were launched.

He earned his stage name, BigWilz, from his early days in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.

What is the one place in Fiji you would take visitors to, and why?

Levuka.

It’s so rich in history.

Once you get there, it’s like going back in time.

Everything just slows down and you forget the world you came from.

Walk on Beach Street and imagine what it was like when sailors, traders and buccaneers strolled that same avenue.

Have a beer and watch the sunset with John and Marylin at Levuka Homestay, where the view from their balcony of the Lomaiviti group will stick forever.

What is your secret backyard spot, and why?

Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa.

It’s always been my go-to destination for years.

I love the location, the facilities, food and the friendliest staff – all of which are synonymous with Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort.

The one local destination on your bucket list, and why?

Taveuni. Always wanted to go there.

Your favourite place in Fiji for a coffee/pie, and why?

Nausori Airport.

There’s this one person who makes the best coffee ever….pie sucks.

But the coffee..mmmm….sweet..creamy…and if you could call coffee beautiful, I’d call it gorgeous.

You just have to get that right person to do it.
